Relaxation Techniques
Barbara began teaching relaxation techniques first as a dancer to her dance students, then as a movement therapist to her patients in hospitals and presently in her private practice as a psychotherapist. She has over twenty five years experience of working and teaching women, adolescents and children in a variety of settings.

Expressive Arts Therapy
Expressive Arts Therapy is a non-threatening way for clients to access and communicate feelings, which may be difficult to convey verbally. Therapeutic activities typically involve the creative arts such as movement, art, sound, writing and guided imagery. Adolescents may be good candidates for this manner of treatment although it is suitable for individuals of all ages.
This process interweaves these arts to tap into the deep wellspring of creativity that is within each person. Barbara understands the need to engage in processes that awaken and integrate all aspects of self: the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Expressive arts does just that — it is a non-verbal language that helps individuals communicate at a deep level.
Although Barbara has clinical training in a number of the arts, she has a Masters of Arts from New York University in Dance Movement Therapy. For more information, please see the Dance Movement Therapy Fact Sheet or the American Dance Therapy Association website (www.adta.org).
